Meet Kath

One of the many blessings that have come to me since opening Silver Pencils, is meeting people in different countries. Kath and her now husband got married in the small town of Bowral, New South Wales in Australia, where they grew up. They were married at St. Simon and St. Judes church- the church she grew up at and had their reception at the beautiful Montrose Berry Farm. Doesn't she look lovely here with her bridesmaids? Kath ordered the Champagne Derby Fascinator from my shop a few months ago. I love this photo of her and her dad.Thank- you so much Kath for sharing photos from your beautiful wedding. I especially love this fun one in the woods.

Have you purchased a Silver Pencils Etsy Product? Email me your photos at: I'd love to feature your wedding.

A New Trend

When I was planning our wedding way back when, I used to treat myself to flowers every now and then in our wedding colors. I called it inspiration- but really- I just love fresh flowers.

So about a month ago, I decided to start the routine back up- but this time- I don't care what color or type they are- I just want to treat myself to some fresh flowers every few weeks.

There's a great little place in town called Lily and Co that I just love. It's a small shop that offers Anthro like home goods and fresh flowers as well- could there be a better combination?

So a few weeks ago I purchased 3 beauitful magenta peonies...
And then last week I put together this colorful combination. It was also 'Two for Tuesday' so I was able to get this whole arrangement of ranunculus, freesia (smells oh so good!) and those purple flowers all for $8! So from now, I think I'm going to stick to my fresh flowers every two weeks pattern. I don't get pedicures and I make my coffee at home- so this is my little personal splurge.

Do you how have a something small that you treat yourself to every now and then?

How Do You Pack?

I've moved 3 times in the last 2 years (not including helping other family and friends)- and although it doesn't get any easier, there are some tactics I've learned to stay true to. First off: I label each side of a box by whatever room it needs to go into. This definitely helps when you have friends and/or family helping you move in. This way instead of always asking where something should go- they can just look on the box. I also write a brief description of the box's contents on the top so I know what should be unpacked first.

We also are huge supporter's of the trash bag method. They're great for large, light items like pillows and down comforters.

I also use trash bags to transport clothing. Before I used to box everything up, but bagging them makes it so much easier to both pack and unpack. I can fit about 10 shirts in each bag and then I tie a rubber band around the neck to make sure they stay together. But as organized as I tried to be, by the end of the day, some things still ended up just getting thrown into whatever space was leftover in the moving van.

Are there any tried and true moving methods that you swear by?

I Love This Girl!

If you aren't already reading Mrs. Pencil's recaps on Weddingbee- start now, because you'll instantly fall in love with how absolutely refreshing, cheerful, and downright hilarious this girl is.

That's why I was completely honored when she asked me to create the hair flowers for her bridal party. Take a look at these gorgeous girls:Mrs. Pencils ordered 6 of the Madeline II yellow canary hair flowers for her lovely ladies and one for herself that she wore during the rehearsal. I love how each of the bridesmaids wore a different style dress...and had beautiful, sunny bouquets to match! Thanks again for letting me take part in your Special Day Mrs P! You ladies are awesome!

Blue Banded

Blue banded kitchenware reminds me of a simpler time. It's homey and comforting- timeless.... classic. I especially love these measuring spoons from Brook Farm General Store.

I think it all started when I saw these Apilco Icon plates at Williams Sonoma. I was lucky enough to get some for our wedding
And someday I'll complete the collection. I especially love the teacups and saucers.

How Joyful

If any of you have ever seen anything created by Joy of How Joyful- you know that she is incredibly talented at anything she touches. Whether it's baking the desserts for her wedding or constructing the actual chapel she got married in- nothing is too big a project for this woman!

That's why when the time came for my blog redesign- I knew she'd do an amazing job (because yes- why wouldn't she be a rock star at graphic design as well?). And she did! She took all of my scrambled ideas and vision and created something far better than I imagined.

Besides being a genius at everything listed above, she also knows how to sew like no other. Check out some of the new products that are and will be gracing her shop:

Joy creates these beautiful custom Boleros- you pick the color, model, sleeve, and liner- and it's ready to ship in about 2 days . Seriously- where does she find the time?!

She also just started creating these super cute purses. I love the big button!

Check out How Joyful Etsy shop or visit Joy at her blog- you'll be glad you did.

Thanks so much Joy! I love my blog design!

Living in Jackson...

Living in the small town on Jackson has been absolutely amazing.I love the fact that we can literally walk everywhere. There's cute and yummy eateries around every corner. The bagel shop above has the most delicious, fresh made bagels. You know it's good when the place is even busy at dinner time. Here I am enjoying some coffee with my onion bagel. I also love all the natural beauty around every corner. My husband took this picture on his iphone- seriously no enhancements- nothing. There's also tons of wildlife. I'd never seen a bald eagle until we came here- and now I see them all the time. The town square here is everything you could want and more- and in a wilderness setting. There's fancy, hip restaurants, Anthro like shops, and tons of galleries. There's also a lot of activity in the town square on weekends. I took these pictures at Elk Fest- An annual fundraiser put on by the boy scouts who auction off naturally shed elk antlers for (lots and lots of) money.Jackson is also incredibly close to Grand Teton National Park...and Yellowstone National Park.Bison of course are everywhere...But since it's Spring- so are their cute babies.
I LOVE living in this new town. The people are kind, the air is clean, and I get more natural exercise than I ever did living back home. I only see good things on the horizon.
